The Role: Regulatory and Space Development Engineer

We’re seeking a Regulatory and Space Development Engineer to join our growing team in London. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in managing Avanti’s satellite spectrum assets, contributing to regulatory strategies, and leading technical coordination with global stakeholders.

From spectrum engineering to satellite filings and international coordination, this is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer who understands both the technical and regulatory sides of space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day frequency coordination of Avanti’s satellite networks.
  • Conduct spectrum engineering studies and manage satellite filings and BR IFIC analyses.
  • Maintain the Avanti’s satellite coordination and network filing databases.
  • Assist in shaping spectrum policy and market access strategies.
  • Modelling of NGSO constellations and compatibility analysis between Avanti’s GSO networks and other NGSO systems.
  • Support licensing, government relations, and institutional outreach.
  • Contribute to the development of space and market development strategies across EMEA and beyond.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • University degree in Electronics Engineering, Aerospace or Telecommunications (BSc/MSc).
  • 5+ years of experience in satellite communications, spectrum regulation, or consultancy.
  • Strong technical knowledge of satellite systems—space and ground segments.
  • Deep familiarity with international radio regulatory frameworks, BR IFIC, and satellite filing management.
  • Proven experience in UK spectrum and licensing regulation and working with UK government bodies.
  • Skilled in coordination and interference modeling tools and platforms.
  • Technically proficient (e.g. MS Office, MATLAB, Visio, Visualyse).
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK and eligible for NATO Security Clearance.

Desirable:

  • Strong time management, task juggling, and presentation skills.
  • Experience applying AI or automation in regulatory work.
  • Excellent communication—both written and verbal—in English.
