AVANTI’S IMPACT BEYOND CONNECTIVITY
Avanti Communications, through strategic philanthropic, educational, and connectivity initiatives, is passionately committed to “connecting the unconnected.” Projects span Africa and beyond, delivering transformative satellite-driven solutions that empower education, humanitarian response, healthcare, disaster resilience, and charitable endeavours.
This initiative, a collaboration between Avanti and mgi, aims to empower rural communities by improving access to digital education and connectivity. It supports education for children in need, providing over 1,000 students and young women with access to better educational resources and vocational training.
A DFID/UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office–funded initiative to deliver digital classrooms and individualised tutoring to marginalised students via satellite broadband, reaching 245 schools and ~180,000 students. The project doubled numeracy learning rates and increased school attendance.
In collaboration with Mi-Desk, Avanti donated mobile, solar-lit, desk-and-chair units that double as schoolbags to provide consistent learning environments and overcome unreliable power in rural schools.
Avanti collaborated with Hannah Mills OBE, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and three-time world champion sailor, to advance Avanti’s CSR and sustainability agenda. Hannah played a prominent role in championing sustainability awareness, enhancing education outreach, and inspiring Avanti’s workforce toward STEM advocacy.

Avanti supports GPE’s awareness initiatives and is an advocate for targeting barriers to girls’ education across the world. Activities include social marketing campaigns, attending UK government round tables and leveraging Avanti’s connectivity partners to improve awareness.
In partnership with UNHCR, Avanti donated and installed solar-powered satellite broadband, laptops, tablets, and support services in 6 refugee settlements (Adjumani, Bidibidi, Imvepi, Kiryandongo, Palabek, Rhino Camp). This enhanced access to information, humanitarian aid, and livelihood services for refugees and host communities.
Avanti supported a 400 km expedition across the Arabian Desert by supplying satellite communications to support injured veterans during the challenge, ensuring safety and shareable live updates.
Delivered under the UK Space Agency’s International Partnership Programme, this initiative connected over 310 rural schools with satellite broadband, ICT training, and educational content, impacting up to 216,000 students. It earned the “Changing Lives” award at East Africa Com 2018.
