In-Space Services
Avanti has extensive experience delivering customer-driven satellite relocations and in-orbit operations with our own fleet and in-house team. All missions are planned and executed internally as turnkey projects, combining cost efficiency, speed, and operational assurance.
Since 2019, Avanti has successfully delivered more than 20 relocations executed on time and aligned with customer mission needs. With more operational relocations delivered for customers than any other operator, this capability sits at the core of our Flexible GEO service.
What does In-Space Services entail?
Avanti will perform, or assist our customer to navigate all operational, legal and regulatory processes required to relocate our satellites to a new orbital location to perform a short duration, flexible mission. This can be to relocate a satellite to bring operational services to a new region, to temporarily surge assets to a location for contingency requirements or extend the filing validity of a specific orbital location for partner operators.
THE ADVANTAGES
Global supply chain pressures, spacecraft manufacturing challenges, geopolitical factors, and limited launch vehicle availability have created a significant risk for operators whose satellites are delayed. In these circumstances, regulatory filings tied to specific orbital slots can lapse if no operational spacecraft is present. Avanti’s Flexible GEO assets provide a proven means of maintaining continuity at these locations, ensuring filings remain valid until replacement satellites are ready. We have successfully executed more than 20 such missions, helping customers protect critical spectrum and orbital resources despite production and launch delays.
Avanti has built a reputation as the “go-to” provider for in-space services. Central to the process is Avanti’s strict adherence to industry and international best practice in space operations. Avanti meticulously plans and executes global operator coordination in order to prepare a mission’s sequence of events and eliminate any potential issues regarding service frequency interference and/ or Space Situational Awareness (SSA).
As a regulated UK-registered satellite operator, Avanti works in alignment with the Civil Aviation Authority on all space relocations, requiring strict adherence to international SSA guidelines. This tried and tested relationship allows Avanti to work to tight deadlines and deliver ahead of the anticipated schedule.
