Oil and gas fields are often found in challenging locations, far from network infrastructure, which can directly impact communications. This can create barriers for smooth operations limiting productivity and staff are often frustrated by the lack of communications tools, lowering staff morale.

The Challenge

A leading global provider of managed networks for the upstream oil, gas and mining sectors provides communication links to onshore and offshore sites.

The provider needed a secure, high-quality service to reach its operations and customer base in some of the most remote parts of the world. As part of its continued expansion and work within the oil and gas industry in the Middle East, the Service Provider required high speed satellite connectivity to serve remote fields, its office in Iraq and network management across its larger sites.

The Solution

The quality of Avanti’s world leading Ka-band satellite technology uniquely addressed the provider’s multiple demands. Having previously tried other technologies, the Service Provider was impressed with Avanti’s innovation and understanding of integration.

The Results

Historically, satellite technology has carried a price premium when used for two-way data applications. Avanti’s technology has been specifically designed to deliver high speed data services via satellite, offering significant advantages, including:

  • Small dishes and terminals that are low cost and simple to install and maintain
  • Equipment agnostic – offering flexibility and choice to operators if needed
  • 100% coverage – delivering a national service of high speed broadband everywhere
  • High throughput – delivering data transfer at speeds up to 426Mbps
  • Cost-effective – offering outstanding throughput

As part of our continuous expansion and work within the oil and gas industry in Iraq, we needed a Ka-band service provider that could serve its remote fields, its office in Iraq and for out of band management in its larger sites. Avanti has provided us with the training, monitoring and control capability to pass on this service to our clients. We look forward to growing alternative service options for our clients in the region.”
